Consultation
Currently FREE (value of $150) with $40 refundable deposit / 30-45 min
In this consultation we will perform a thorough health history and physical examination, gathering the data that is most helpful for us to make a Chinese medicine diagnosis and, if we determine that we are a good fit, devise a comprehensive treatment plan suited for you.
You will have the chance to ask questions. We will dive as deep as necessary into your case to best understand the full complexity of not only the physical symptoms, but as appropriate the mental, emotional, and spiritual components to any dis-ease you may be experiencing. Our goal is to bring you back to your full and natural state of health, ease, peace, and lightness of being.
Note: The $40 deposit holds the appointment time for you and is refunded if and when you come in for the consultation. If you do not show up for the consultation or cancel within 24 hours, we keep the $40 deposit.
If you’re not sure if you are ready for a coonsultation, book a free 10-15 minute discovery call with Dr. James instead.
Acupuncture
Pricing Varies Depending on Treatment Plan / 45-60 min
This is for those who have completed a consultation. It includes a progress check-in, herbal consultation, gua sha, cupping, motor point acupuncture, dietary guidance, and lifestyle coaching as needed at the practitioner’s discretion based on your input.
Acupuncture’s benefits include improved circulation, releasing muscle tension, relieving pain, regulating the immune system, and more. For more information about acupuncture, read this.
Wellness Plans
If you have completed treatment plan and are wanting to maintain treatments, or are looking for overall health treatments with no major concerns, our Wellness Plans may be perfect for you.
Wellness plans have a 3-month commitment to start and then may be canceled at any time.
If you are experiencing more serious conditions or discomfort, a comprehensive treatment plan would likely be a better fit than a wellness plan. Schedule a consultation to discuss what option will be best for you.
Herbal Medicine
Herbal Medicine pricing varies depending on dosing, which is dependent on the severity and nature of the condition.
Your herbal formula is composed of a group of herbal medicinals that comprehensively address your pattern as identified by our practitioner. Patients ask “what is this treating?” because they are used to taking one medication for their blood pressure, one for their anxiety, one for their sleep, etc. Chinese herbal medicine is different because we design our formulas to treat as many of your symptoms as possible at the same time, in a comprehensive yet balanced manner.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is acupuncture?
Acupuncture uses sterile, disposable needles to stimulate the circulation of blood, body fluids, and what we call in Chinese medicine, Qi. It is a profound medical intervention that has been researched extensively and practiced for thousands of years. For more information on how acupuncture works and what it treats, read this.
How is your treatment different?
Our treatment is different from other conventional or alternative medical treatment in several key ways.
One, we are results-oriented. We devise treatment plans with set timelines and specific measurable goals.
Two, we do only holistic natural medicine. We don’t use pharmaceuticals and we rarely use supplements. Our treatment is designed at restoring the function of your body so as to minimize or eliminate the need for pharmaceuticals and supplements.
Three, we are patient-centered. We spend time with our patients, with a thorough an in-depth initial consultation and milestone meetings that monitor progress throughout your treatment plan.
My health picture is so complicated; can you still help?
The majority of our patients have a complicated health picture! These are the kinds of cases we love because they are often ones where Western medicine will struggle, prescribing multiple pharmaceutical interventions without resolution. Each case is different, but complex chronic conditions are our calling card.
How much does it cost?
Do you take insurance?
Cost - Our pricing varies depending on the specific treatment plan. We usually work with patients on comprehensive treatment programs, that often include acupuncture and herbal medicine together. The recommended treatment plan will vary based on the intensity, chronicity, and complexity of your case.
In your consultation with our doctor, he will make a treatment program recommendation after fully assessing your case.
Insurance - Many insurance plans in Utah cover acupuncture. Call your insurance company to learn about the specifics of your plan. We are out-of-network with all insurance companies, and would be happy to provide you with all the documentation you need to seek reimbursement.
Ways to Pay - Many of our patients pay out of pocket with a credit card, or use of HSA or FSA cards. We also work with CareCredit, which allows patients to pay over time.
What does a session look like?
An acupuncture session will start with a check-in with the practitioner to collect information and monitor progress. He will then (painlessly!) insert and stimulate the needles and let you comfortably relax for 25-45 minutes while the acupuncture does its work. Each session can be different, and can incorporate other modalities such as magnets, electroacupuncture, gua sha, cupping, herbal consultation, tui na (Chinese massage), craniosacral adjustments, and more, as needed.
